Genetic Testing for Helicobacter pylori Treatment
ثبت نشده
چکیده
DESCRIPTION Helicobacter pylori infection of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract is treated with a combination of antibiotics and proton-pump inhibitors (PPI). Genetic factors may influence the success of H pylori treatment through effects on PPI metabolism. Individuals with polymorphisms in the CYP2C19 gene metabolize PPIs more rapidly than normal and may have a reduced therapeutic effect. Therefore, individualized treatment regimens based on genetic testing may improve eradication rates.

Genetic Diversity and Drug Resistance of Helicobacter pylori Strains in Isfahan, Iran
Objective(s) Resistance to antimicrobial agents, particularly metronidazole and clarithromycin, is frequently observed in Helicobacter pylori and may be associated with treatment failure. This resistance rate varies according to the population studied. The aim of this study was to assess the pattern of antimicrobial resistance of H. pylori isolates from dyspeptic patients in Isfahan. Material...
متن کاملMechanisms of Helicobacter pylori antibiotic resistance and molecular testing
Antibiotic resistance in Helicobacter pylori (H.pylori) is the main factor affecting the efficacy of current treatment methods against infection caused by this organism. The traditional culture methods for testing bacterial susceptibility to antibiotics are expensive and require 10-14 days. Since resistance to clarithromycin, fluoroquinolone, and tetracycline seems to be exclusively caused by s...
متن کاملBroccoli and Helicobacter Pylori: A Systematic Review
Objective Pharmacological treatment of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection is based on the use of at least two antibiotics with a double dose of proton pump inhibitor which results in antibiotic resistance. Anti-helicobacterial activity of sulforaphane-rich broccoli has been evaluated in laboratory studies. This study aimed to systematically review the conducted randomized clinical trials...
متن کاملManagement of Helicobacter Pylori Infection
Since the initial isolation of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) in 1982 by Warren and Marshall, the diagnosis and treatment of H. pylori has remained problematic [1]. Although the incidence varies by geographic location and socioeconomic conditions, H. pylori remains one of the most common bacterial infections in the world [2]. The estimated incidence of H. pylori within the United States is 30-...
